Loss for Words

It’s not unusual for a person to say that I have poor communication skills in the past; it has gotten better now. I think being the first generation Asian American in my family, I was never taught to express myself with words. I was taught to just obey my parents and never question them. If something bothered me, I would try to brush it off or be passive aggressive. This way of growing up lingered into my communication with others in my adulthood.

The Art of Communicating
The Art of Communicating

Now, I’m the type of person who is too direct and some of my friends think I’m cold. It’s worst when I reply through emails or text because an emoticon wasn’t properly used. I picked up this book over the weekend to understand more about communication and how it can improve my skills. I mean all I want is to get my words across 🙂

  1. Er, have you been working out lately? It shows! 🙂 Yes, families abroad often emphasize single aspects of their home culture, maybe with the intent to give their children only the best, exclusively? I liked how slow and quiet your own videos are, especially the early ones. You can feel how every small movement and detail is placed with great care, but at the same time all is just showing yourself as you are, natural, relaxed, energized. It’s like that heavy silence when you want to convey sth very important and spend hours together not saying anything much, but someone close to you understands and returns a shy smile. Those moments often become the most precious times in one’s life… And then you breathe in, and you breathe out, and you realize that what Asian Porn Director and 35K+/n idol Peter Le is telling you, speed-typing from his phone without double checking, that he picked up a Buddhist book on communication for the weekend, because he put the wrong smiley on a text to a friend.
And for a few seconds you have been to that space of high self-awareness, hard work and kind dedication that have become habit and have created small miracles for so many people, and the next moment it’s just a post, maybe an ad, probably wont even read much of the book in the end.
Thank you for everything you never said to all of us, fans, clients and friends around the world! And thanx to your parents for keeping just the right mix of Asianness to make this happen.
Now let’s go have some fun, and maybe later some deep communication! 😉
    Have a great weekend! (^-^)*

  2. No doubt that your photos alone get your thoughts across. It’s probably best that muscle boys don’t express themselves too much.. since that usually fucks up the fantasies your body creates. But, considering you graduated from American schools, I’ve noticed that you lack the basic spelling and grammar skills that most people learn by the time they’re in middle school. I was an English major in college, but occasionally my first generation Vietnamese friend, who also lives in California, corrects my conjugation. So I know your lack of language skills isn’t completely attributable to your education, or your home environment. Instead, I think you’re language lazy.. and haven’t devoted the time it takes to learn to spell, expand your vocabulary, conjugate verbs, and construct sentences.

    • That’s what I get for writing fast and using my phone to post an article. I apologize for the errors. Next time I’ll actually read what I write before I click POST, lol.

  3. Peter, I’m having trouble imaging you as a sullen, uncommunicative teenager. You’ve certainly come a long way! Tone is always hard to get right, especially in electronic communications. I find it helps to have someone reliable to test things out on from time to time. Do you get anyone else to read your blogs before you post?

  4. Peter you get your words across beautifully, you’ve been writing your blog for years and put a lot of effort into it and all your venture’s, I’ve been lucky enough to admire them and you only recently, and your body speaks a thousand words effortlessly………..

  5. I totally understand. I was raised the same until my early adulthood I became more vocal and expressive. I’m totally direct and no excuse for that but I’m learning to tame that part. Great story.
