Good Luck to Six Asian-American Academy Award Nominees!

The #OscarsSoWhite hashtag seems to have increased visibility and recognition for African-Americans working in the film business, but so far, it’s still rough for Latinos and Asian filmmakers and actors to get the same level of acclaim.  But there ARE six nominees in tonight’s 2018 Academy Awards of Asian descent, and we’d like to point them out and wish them well.

Kazuhiro Tsuji (Best Makeup, Darkest Hour)

Ru Kuwahata (Negative Space, Best Animated Short)

Ramsey Naito (Best Animated Feature Film, Boss Baby)

Ren Klyce (Best in Sound Editing, Star Wars: The Last Jedi)

Robert Lopez (who is Filipino-American) (Best Song, “Remember Me” from Coco)

Kumail Nanjiani (Best Original Screenplay, The Big Sick)

We can’t wait to see if any of these distinguished nominees take home the Oscar, and hope to see more Asians and Asian-Americans on the nominees roster next year!
