Taiwanese pop star A-mei is going to perform a concert in Taipei on Sunday, and not only will it be free but she is picking up the cost of putting the concert on as well.<\/p>\n

\u2018No slogans, no posters that night. I want to use music to give people who are pursuing respect and true love the courage to continue,’ A-mei wrote on her Facebook page on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u2018I want to cheer for every single heart that is defending true love \u2026 This is a small effort I can make as a singer.’<\/p>\n

The concert will cost around US$100,000 to put on and A-mei will be covering the costs out of her own pocket instead of relying on sponsors.<\/p>\n

A draft of a bill to allow same-sex couples to marry and adopt passed its first reading in the Legislative Yuan in October but thousands of opponents took to the streets to protest it last year.<\/p>\n

The concert is being held at Huashan 1914 Creative Park on Sunday, with doors opening at 6pm.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
