Unlike the bodybuilding shows I have competed in before this is much tougher to prepare for. In bodybuilding you want to show up to the competition looking ripped &#8211; but all the guys you see on stage have basically been starving themselves the week before the show to look as lean as possible. Backstage isn\u2019t very glamorous, everyone\u2019s muscles are cramping and everyone is pretty hangry, if you asked any of us to bench 400 pounds we would just pass out on the spot from exhaustion.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\">Powerlifting is tough because I have to weigh in at no more than a very specific weight in order to compete in my desired bracket. However, I can\u2019t just starve myself the week before competition to make weight, because then I\u2019ll deplete my muscles and lose all my strength &#8211; strength I need to win! That\u2019s why I have to be more aware than ever of everything I eat to make sure I stay at my goal weight without losing any strength. Tough work, but I\u2019m hoping it pays off with a big win.
