While in Kyoto, I stayed in an area called Nijo. The hostel was close to Nijo Castle, not the teppanyaki restaurant in the US, but the real Nijo Castle. So one day I decided to jog over and check it out. The whole time I was there touring, I kept asking myself, “Why doesn’t my house look like this?” Then I remembered that I’m a minimalist.
While I was there I learned that Nijo Castle was built as the Kyoto home of the Tokugawa Shoguns. The Shogunate was a feudal regime that ruled Japan from 1603 until 1868. The Tokugawa Shogunate moved Japan’s capital from Kyoto and used Tokyo as the capital city. But, whenever they needed a place to stay in the old capital, they would crash at luxurious Nijo Castle.
Sorry for asking. I’m just curious.
been there once! the place was great.
btw. aren’t you going to feature Guy Tang here? You too both look good together.
We are friends, but he has his own site. I want to feature people who haven’t been seen before. Even Keni was new to a lot of my fans.
I see. Aren’t you friends with benefits? 🙂 I hope you get what I mean.
Beautiful castle!!!!
