Gearing up to celebrate its 35th anniversary, the world famous Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles is heading up its many yearly holiday fundraisers and performances with the festive, saucy and sometimes spooky #Halloweenie event, October 25.
As it’s WeHo and Hollywood adjacent, many GMCLA events are packed with and attended by LGBT gliteratti and allies. Halloweenie, also known as the Party With A Purpose, is no exception. Halloweenie 2013′s proceeds help the GMCLA’s Alive Music Project, an LGBTQ youth performing arts outreach program.
Rounding out the year, post-Halloween celebrations include the GMCLA’s collaboration with sister group VOX Femina, a holiday Festival of Carols, and Christmas Eve at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, to be aired locally on KCET-Los Angeles. More event and ticket information can be found below, and the GMCLA happily welcomes your subscriptions and supportive donations. To subscribe to the upcoming 35th anniversary season, click here.

The Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles (GMCLA) has been a popular and cherished part of the Southern California theater and performing arts community for many decades. Founded July 12, 1979, the ensemble was initially created as a volunteer effort of 99 gay men from Los Angeles. Over the years, GMCLA has expanded, touring both nationally and internationally. Each year, the group writes and releases new music. To date, GMCLA has released 14 CDs and appeared and performed with numerous stage, film and television celebrities. GMCLA prides itself on its charity-centered fundraising and outreach efforts. The Chorus has appeared on several television shows including the Oscars, Will & Grace, The Ren and Stimpy Show, Mad TV, and six episodes of Six Feet Under among many others. They have performed with artists such as LeAnn Rimes, Amber Riley and Seth MacFarlane. The GMCLA ensemble was the first gay men’s chorus to perform for a sitting President of the United States, Bill Clinton. They also sang for President Barack Obama in West Hollywood (WeHo), California in September 2011. Many of their performance highlights can be found on their YouTube channel.
