I finally finished The Hunger Games, the first book in a trilogy by Suzanne Collins. Tomorrow I will start reading the second book Catching Fire, which is then followed by the third and final book Mockingjay.
Like my friend said, it was an easy read. Many people I’ve talked to have read it or are in the middle of reading one of the books. Hopefully I will have finished all three by the time I return home from Japan. I would like to start a discussion group to talk about the characters and points brought up in the book. Is this a possible reality or just sci-fi? Does it reflect where the world might be headed? After all the main themes are about government control, big brother, and personal independence. I think it would be fun to have a discussion about all of this, maybe even a live chat online.
I also read that Hollywood is planning to make a movie based on the first book. Even though the movies are never as good as the books, I think it has the potential. Is this going to be as big as Harry Potter? What do you guys think?
