Who in the hell doesn’t like ketchup on their wiener (hot dog)? As a kid, we always ate hot dogs with ketchup; that has been the rule of thumb all my life. Over the weekend I went to the “Taste of Chicago” festival with my buddy. It is where all the best restaurants and vendors showcase their specialty at Grant Park for a 3 day event.
Overall the experience was great! But the hot dog stands refused to give me ketchup. WTF? Later someone in line told me that it’s rude to put ketchup on a Chicago hot dog, but how should I know that? I guess it’s one of those things you only learn by living in a great city like Chicago.
P.S. Would someone please send me a bottle of Heinz Ketchup?
Peter, i’ve been living in chicago my whole life and i never heard of putting ketchup on your hotdog as being rude. i think its nonsense, but now that i think about it, most hotdog stands i’ve been too usually don’t put ketchup on their wieners..hmm makes me think
