In my last blog I told you guys about the O-torii Gate outside of Itsukushima shrine. Today I have a video on it and I also wanted to tell you more about the shrine. It was designated a World Heritage Site in 1996, back when I was in the 8th grade.

It is dedicated to the 3 Munakata goddesses: Princess Ichikishima, Princess Tagitsu, and Princess Tagori. The shrine is built on top of the water. When I visited the tide was out and I could see the pillars supporting the shrine; but when the tide comes in it looks like it is floating. The vermillion color is supposed to keep evil spirits away. Enjoy the pics and video.

  1. The Shrine looks beautiful!

I’m not sure if your into video games, but I think you are, cause I’ve seen you with your xbox on one of your youtube videos. I’m not sure if you know this, but, the Tokyo Game Show is currently happening there! Maybe you can check it out for us?

  2. It’s really cool that you’re interested in Japanese cultural heritage. I like to see that you are more than just a pretty face but also a smart, spiritual guy! Please keep enjoying my country -- we all love you here!

  3. Hey Peter -- Great still shots and great videos. These are very different than many of the tourist photos and vids I have seen in the past. Good job f bringing some of the unique Japan to your fans. Two questions:

What is the reaction to the nuclear disaster to the ordinary Japanese people you meet. Not only the nuclear part but the rebuilding of the area affected by the Tsunami. What do you hear what do you notice?

And…who is taking the videos of you on these locations? Are you traveling in a group or with a friend?
    🙂

    • I have friends at all my stops who I get to take videos and photos, but some I do myself too. As for the Tsunami and Nuclear stuff, no one brings it up in conversation, so I don’t either. I figure if they want to talk about it, they will.
