All summer everyone from back in California kept telling me, “You love Chicago NOW, but just wait until it gets really cold!” You know how Chicago is nicknamed the Windy City? Most people assume that’s because of the windy weather here, but the nickname dates back to the late 1800’s and had more to do with politicians being windbags full of hot air and false promises than the weather.
Either way, it IS windy here and it’s freakin’ cold! The wind here blows in over the lake and it just cuts through your clothes right down to your skin. I never really knew that fall layers were for more than just a change in fashion and another way to look cute… but now I’m learning that lots of warm layers are a total city living necessity out here. I’ve figured out that the thin cardigans I love that show off my pecs aren’t gonna cut it when it really gets cold here… So who wants to take me shopping? I’ll let you watch me undress. 😉
I hope you lke soups!! Because soup is so good for you during your cold winters. I know cause I grew up in NJ but will be moving to LA in 9 days! By the way, I’m so glad to be back on this page! 🙂
