Gaining Weight

My biggest problem with my current gym is that they don’t have weights heavy enough for me to use.  Without heavy weight, your muscle growth is limited. I need bigger weights to build up my maximum muscles so I have been trying to think of ways to get creative with what’s available to me.

One of my favorite exercises to do is a dumbbell overhead shoulder press. I can do reps no problem with my gym’s heaviest dumbbell – 110 pounds. Most people would probably think being able to lift 110 pounds overhead no problem is a great thing, and it is an accomplishment, but I’m striving for more. So, part of getting creative was to start doing my dumbbell overhead shoulder presses with the added weight from my most recent purchase, weighted wrist straps. Clocking in at 15 pounds each, I can snugly strap one on to each wrist and workout with the added total 30 pounds.

Even though you might not be faced with the same exact problem I am, a lot of times gyms can leave you with less than ideal equipment so when that happens just follow my lead and get creative!

  1. This is very clever!!! It’s funny cause when I started doing fitness at home (very basic one) I used the same way like yours, but of course not that heavy hahaha just 2 kg, so I’m guessing that I was doing right!
