While I was in Hawaii, I had no gym access to train with heavy weights that I need to bulk up my muscles for the video and photo shoots. But I also like visiting new gyms when I travel because it helps me relax when I workout. My routine while traveling starts with breakfast before I hit the gym, then lunch, and I’m off to enjoy an adventurous day. I’ve been training at the same gym for over 4 years and it helps to change the scenery.
When I arrived in Hawaii I was devastated to find out that the gym was a two-hour round-trip. This meant that I would have to cut out any leisure time. I had already missed the flight the day before so the schedule was already tight. Now I won’t have any time to myself unless I could find a way to get my workout done.
This is when I was struck with genius. I created a new back exercise without using any fancy exercise equipment. Here’s what I did – I grabbed a towel from the bathroom and hung it over the patio wood frame outside the house. I managed to continue my limited exercises with pull-ups for my back muscles and leg lifts for my lower abdomen.
The best part about my training is my photographer videotaped me working out naked for his private collection and I had the chance to train while the sun was setting. The down side is that I didn’t have a crowd full of fans cheering me on as I was working my sets. But seriously, when stuck with a situation like this, think outside the box and invent something new.
