When I say, “get a grip,” I literally mean get a grip. This is the simplest thing to remember and do when exercising because without a strong grip you can’t lift weights. This morning I was at the gym going through my intense Pete Physique routine, you know 3 times a week for 45 minutes, and I was on my closed grip bench press exercise. I didn’t feel as strong as normal because I only had slept a few hours and I’m coming down with a cold. So, during my first set, I loaded the bar with 295 lbs. I completed 4 repetitions without any issues; then I decided to force another rep. As I was exploding the barbell up to the finish position, the barbell slipped from my hands and smashed my chest.

The weight knocked the wind out of me. I was lucky that two gym members saw what happened and ran over to lift the barbell off my chest. As I examined the injury in the locker room, I took a photo to share with you.

I’m still in pain, but I will survive. This is a good lesson to always be careful and you should ask someone to spot you when lifting weights.

  1. Oh my God! Peter, please be careful, you already have a perfect body and if you’re falling into cold, watch out now and leave the exercise for next week.
Maybe you need from me to give you a massage in the great chest and fullfill with kisses my love
There is something I must say, I love your current look, the truth, I love to complete your

  2. Sorry to hear about your injury, but maybe others will learn from it. You are so right that you should always have a spotter. Get well quick. More orange juice for the cold.
